Who We Are
Interfacial Solutions is a technology development and transfer company. Interfacial Solutions, LLC is dedicated to helping organizations in the plastics industry successfully address their technological challenges by providing timely and effective solutions utilizing our expertise in materials science. We specialize in technologies and products that relate to controlling or modifying interfacial phenomenon in materials.
Technology Development
Interfacial Solutions develops technology that is related to our core expertise, interfacial modification and design. We are currently developing technologies that are relevant in many segments of the plastics market. Our specific areas of interest include: green materials, plastics additives, novel fillers, recycled materials, reinforced composites and nanotechnology.
Technology Transfer Strategy
We differentiate ourselves by taking a hands-on approach to commercializing the technologies that we develop with our partners. Our strategy is to bring the technologies to market in our pilot facility and subsequently transfer them to our partners manufacturing facilities when the appropriate ROI can be achieved by doing so. We believe that by actively participating in the transfer of our technologies, the process is expedited.
Our Team
Dr. Jeffrey J. Cernohous, President
Dr. Cernohous has spent his career developing new polymeric materials for interfacial applications in polymer blends and composites. He founded Interfacial Solutions in 2003, and has coauthored 23 scientific publications and 43 US patents and patent applications in his career.
Kristi Cernohous, Consultant
Kristi received her B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Food Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1994. She worked as an Analytical Chemist and Quality Engineer for General Mills Co. for seven years. In 2001, she joined the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) as a Forensic Scientist. She is a trained expert in characterizing materials using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy. Kristi joined Interfacial Solutions in 2007. Throughout her career, Kristi has also published two scientific papers.
